On December 5, 2024, the National Chapter of Chile for Democratizing Work held a seminar titled "Trabajo Docente, Sufrimiento y Democratización" at the Catholic University of Chile. One of the key presentations, delivered by Sebastián Alonso Pérez Sepúlveda—PhD in Sociology (EHESS, France) and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Louvain—examined the questions: What does it mean to democratize work? Why should we democratize work? And how can we democratize work in Chile? Pérez Sepúlveda drew on his research with the LAMARTRA project, which explored the intersections of decarbonization and labor markets in sustainability transitions, emphasizing the balance between climate policy goals, economic development, social inclusion, and equitable employment.

Another presentation, by Simon Viviers, titled "Politizar el sufrimiento en el trabajo: una necesidad para nuestras sociedades contemporáneas", delved into the necessity of politicizing workplace suffering in contemporary societies.

The event also included a dynamic panel discussion featuring Gerardo Ubilla, Leandro Silva, Loreto Abarzúa, and Magdalena Garcés, whose contributions enriched the dialogue. Together, these discussions underscored the urgent need to address labor challenges in Chile, offering valuable perspectives on the intersection of workplace suffering and the democratization of work.
